Notice - Smoke Testing of Sewer Infrastructure Scheduled Friday July 24, 2015
This test enables the City to locate breaks and defects in the sewer infrastructure. During the test, YOU MAY SEE SMOKE COMING FROM VENT STACKS ON BUILDINGS OR FROM HOLES IN THE GROUND. Do not be alarmed. The smoke has no odor, is non-toxic, non-staining, does not create a fire hazard, and will dissipate in a few minutes.
A properly installed and maintained plumbing system will not allow smoke to enter the interior of a structure. If smoke should enter your building during the test, it means that there could be defects in your plumbing that could allow DANGEROUS SEWER GAS to enter. Open doors and windows to ventilate any smoke that enters the building. Note the location and contact the Public Works Department at the number below.
Location: Generally south of FM 455 (White St.) between SH 5 (Powell Parkway) and Riggins St. extending as far south as Cunningham Blvd.
Time: Friday, July 24, 2015 between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
