There will
be a ballot proposition during the May 2017 elections related to park
land. City staff is negotiating the acquisition of a parcel of land
adjacent to Natural Springs Park that would involve the exchange of a parcel of
land that is currently part of Natural Springs Park. The parcel of land
labeled as the letter A on the image is privately owned and is the parcel the
city would acquire. The parcel of land labeled as the letter B is
currently owned by the city. The land currently owned by the City of Anna
would become private property and the tract acquired by the City of Anna would
be used for municipal park purposes. Whenever land that is designated for
park purposes is “sold”, State law requires that a proposition approving the
sale be approved by the majority of voters at an election. The
proposition on the election ballot for May 2017 will substantially be stated as:
“FOR or AGAINST authorizing the exchange of approximately 1.28 acres of land
owned by the City of Anna in Natural Springs Park for a privately owned 1.28
acres of nearby land lying adjacent to said Natural Springs Park to be used for
municipal park purposes.”
