Red Cross Serving Texoma Partners with the Anna Fire Department to Make Homes Safer
Firefighters and volunteers
will install smoke alarms, provide preparedness education
ANNA, Texas – As part of an ongoing nationwide effort to make
communities safer, the American Red Cross Serving Texoma has partnered with the
Anna Fire Department to install smoke alarms and provide preparedness and
safety education.
On July 8, the Anna Fire
Department will canvas neighborhoods to install smoke alarms and replace
batteries at no cost to the occupant. Red Cross volunteers will join
firefighters to educate residents on the importance of severe weather and home
fire preparedness.
The event will run from 9 am-2
pm and anyone who will not be home during this time is encouraged to call
972.924.2143 to reschedule. Volunteer opportunities are available by contacting
Katie Curtiss at katie.curtiss@redcross.org.
Since 2014, the Red Cross, in
partnership with fire departments and other local organizations, has visited
homes to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and
provide fire prevention and safety education. For more information on the
