National Night Out will be Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Slayter Creek Park (425 Rosamond Parkway). Citizens will have the opportunity to meet and greet representatives from Anna PD, Collin County SO, Collin County Constable Pct. 1, as well as members of the Anna FD. Grayson-Collin Electric Co-op will have their "Safety Village" on display and representatives will provide power line safety demonstrations. Children will be entertained by clowns Bubbles and Wowza that include face painting and balloon animals. There will be a bounce house sponsored by the Collin County Youth Adventure Camp, and Search One Rescue will provide the guests with K-9 search and rescue demonstrations.
Anna police and fire departments will have vehicles on display, in addition to, the always popular helicopters display (weather and calls permitting). The fire department will be cooking hotdogs and Texas Roadhouse is providing appetizers. Although there will be food and fun for people of all ages, the purpose of this event is to boost the police and community partnership to help reduce crime and eliminate fear from the criminal element.
As in previous years, the NNO event will suffice for annual neighborhood watch meetings and counts toward participation in the neighborhood watch program. We are urging everyone to participate in this year's event to help meet our goal of having an active neighborhood watch program in every community. Neighborhood watch packets will be available for everyone who wishes to obtain information on how to start a neighborhood watch program.
