The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires water purveyors to provide a public notice when a single measurement of fluoride exceeds 2.0 mg/L. A recent sample result for fluoride at one of our entry points was 2.3 mg/L which is 0.3 mg/L above the Secondary Constituent Level (SCL) of 2.0 mg/L. The average fluoride level for our system is 1.5 mg/L, well below the SCL. The 2.3 mg/L result is well below the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 4.0 mg/L. Fluoride is naturally occurring in ground water and is not added by the City. Water customers will receive the below notice by mail. If you have questions or concerns regarding this notice please reach out to Troy Hopkins, Water Superintendent at (972) 924-4510.
