ANNA EMPLOYEE NAMED TOPS IN TEXAS -- Code Compliance Manager Kevin Martin (right) has been named Code Professional of the Year by the Building Officials Association of Texas. Martin was honored by the City Council at their July 28 meeting and joined by Director of Neighborhood Services Marc Marchand. Martin was hired by the City of Anna last summer as the first occupant of the position, and he set about to establish the division and its functions. Prior to his hiring, Code Compliance was handled by the Fire Department. Leaning on his more than 15 years of experience as a Code Compliance officer, he established new policies and procedures, established a neighborly rapport with the community, and instituted a program that required the registration of rental properties. Martin continues to advance his knowledge of code compliance and management through his active involvement in professional organizations such as the Texas Environmental Health Association. The Building Officials Association of Texas was organized to unite with other departments of Texas municipalities and the Texas Municipal League in order to bring together and achieve a more efficient and knowledgeable understanding of local government.
