How do I report an issue with our system, such as a water leak or sewer backup?
Report an emergency water main break, clogged or overflowing sewer main, or leaking water meter or hydrant to Public Works at (972) 924-4510 or call (214) 585-7725 after normal business hours.
What if I suspect my water meter is reading incorrectly?
Much like an automobile or other mechanical device, the meter slows down with age. While the meter may slow down and under register use, it cannot over register as its mechanical parts are not capable of speeding up or registering a significantly higher reading than actual usage. If your water bill shows a dramatic increase over the previous year’s usage, and usage patterns have not changed (i.e. new pool, increase in house members) please call Utility Billing at (972) 924-2432. You can also go to the www.annatexas.gov, click on online payments then select View my water usage.
Where does Anna’s water come from?
The City of Anna gets its water from a combination of ground and surface water sources. The groundwater is provided by seven City-owned wells. The purchased surface water is from the Greater Texoma Utility Authority (GTUA) through a joint agreement with the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD).
Do we have watering restrictions every year, or just during a drought? What are the rules?
Our outdoor watering/irrigation ordinance prohibits the watering of lawns from 10 AM to 6 PM from April 1st through October 31st of each year. (Sec. 12.08.031 Lawn and Landscape Irrigation)
Who is responsible for my water leak?
Locate the meter box in your yard (usually in the front, under a circular metal or rectangular plastic lid). If the leak occurs between the street and the meter box, the leak is the City’s responsibility. Please call (972) 924-4510 to report the leak or call (214) 585-7725 after normal business hours. If the leak occurs between the meter box and your faucet, the leak is the homeowner’s responsibility. In this case you should call a certified plumber as soon as possible.
If we are supposed to be conserving water, why do city employees open hydrants and allow water to run into the streets?
Flushing dead end mains is a state mandated maintenance and water quality requirement.
Who do I call if I suspect there is a water leak?

Why is the water soft?
Soft water is water that contains low concentrations of calcium and magnesium ions. Soft water naturally occurs where the rainfall and the drainage basins are formed of hard, impervious and calcium poor rocks.
