My drains tend to get clogged, what can I do to keep them clear?

Keeping your drains clear does not have to involve chemicals or costly plumbing services. Keeping things out of the drain that do not belong there, such as grease, large food particles, and oils, will go a long way to keep your drain clean. A natural way to help prevent clogs is to pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by ½ cup of vinegar once every 30 days. Wait 30 minutes without using the sink, then flush with hot water for 2 to 3 minutes. If clogged drains continue to be a problem despite proper drain care, call a certified plumber to clear your lines. If the plumber finds the clog is beyond your plumbing, call Public Works at (972) 924-4510 or (214) 585-7725 after normal business hours.
